Avatel and Avaya… A New World of Business Communications

Welcome to a new world of business communications! Avaya’s purchase of Nortel Enterprise Solutions was completed on December 18, 2009. Avatel will join in this opportunity to shape the future of enterprise business communications by redefining how people share information and collaborate with their teams.  The combined strengths of the two product manufacturers and Avatel’s customer facing support will provide you with an enhanced world-class portfolio of products and award-winning services, market-leading solutions that help customers enhance collaboration, optimize business processes, and improve productivity, giving them a competitive edge in today’s marketplace.

These solutions will simplify, consolidate, and eliminate excessive costs in delivering effective communications within business. Building on the new best-in-class solutions will propel Avaya into a worldwide leadership position. The new Avaya holds leadership positions in key industry segments:

  • In the Leader position of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Unified Communications, Enterprise Communications and Contact Center Infrastructure, Interactive Voice Response, and Enterprise Voice Portals.
  • #1 globally in communication solutions for small and mid-enterprise measured by more lines shipped for companies with less than 100 users.

  • Audio Conferencing with 28% market share
  • Enterprise Messaging with 39% market share
  • Contact Center / ACD revenue share

Avaya’s and Avatel’s vision for the future of business communications leverages open, standards-based SIP and Session technologies to enable virtualization and the ability to deliver context-based user collaboration applications and customer service applications to customers. Customers can embark on the path to fulfill this vision through the Avaya Aura™ architecture, which will provide:

  •    Reduced costs
  •    Simplidied operations
  •    Multi-vendor integration

A broader portfolio and 5,200 patents or patents pending will boost Avaya’s funding for research and development, which fuels new and creative solutions for customers. Together with Avatel, Avaya will build on award-winning service capabilities to further enhance the value proposition for customers. Customers can count on continued support. Avaya will continue to:

  •  Sell NES products for the next 12 to 18 months
  •  Support existing maintenance contracts through their expiration
  •  Support a product for a standard three to five year period post end of product sale
  •  Provide original manufacturer-trained consultants and support/management engineers to support respective portfolios

With a combined vertical and professional services expertise, Avatel and Avaya can provide you with the critical expertise you’ll need to evaluate and adopt new technologies. Services from the combined organizations will provide investment protection, risk mitigation, and optimal performance of communications systems.

Avaya will communicate its product roadmap on 19 January 2010. Customers can expect to see a visionary enterprise roadmap, one that is focused around an open and flexible architecture that allows existing investments to be embraced and extended (not ripped and replaced).
