I am excited to announce that Avatel has been named a finalist for the 2013 Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Best Place to Work. The Best Place to Work award goes to companies that foster innovation and creativity in their workforce, encourages work/life balance, and works to inspire greatness in its staff. We are very proud that this marks the 8th consecutive year that Avatel has been nominated for the award.

As a “Best Place to Work”, Avatel recognizes that relationships are at the heart of every great workplace. The relationship between employees and management, between employees and each other, and an individual’s relationship to his or her work, combine and collude to create a great work environment, one where employees feel engaged, happy, and proud.

Everybody wants to be proud of where they work, to feel that they are investing the most precious thing they have–time–in a happy and rewarding environment. Avatel strives to create a work environment in which people feel more satisfied and have relationships that are more enduring.

Being a “Best Place to Work” takes more than just offering competitive pay and benefits. The resounding message from our employees is clear: they require a great place to work, one where they feel appreciated, important and focused on.

If you want to be a great place to work, you must recognize the value and contribution of every employee, regardless of role.  It must be a workplace where your employees connect to the organization’s strategic objectives, and are recognized and rewarded for their contribution towards company goals.

This year’s them is centered on creating a “Workplace Paradise”. We are excited to be honored at the paradise themed awards luncheon on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Hilton Tampa Downtown presented by The Tampa Bay Business Journal and their Presenting sponsors.

To stay with the theme of the event, we believe that a workplace paradise must be a fun atmosphere where people can come to work, have a few laughs, and feel good about themselves and their work.  This is a workplace culture that engages the hearts, minds, emotions, and spirit of their people.

As we imagine the perfect workplace, a place in which existence is positive and harmonious. A little piece of paradise where there is prosperity and happiness. A workplace paradise where employees – trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do, and enjoy the people they work with.

It is up to us as business leaders to create an enjoyable work culture that encourages communication, ideas, growth, and work-life balance. Taking a proactive role in cultivating a “Workers Paradise” can result in a workplace that fulfills, motivates, and inspires employees each and every day.

We believe that a workplace Paradise is where everything is equal; everyone has the same opportunities as others, where there is peace and serenity and people are allowed to make mistakes and should be forgiven.

No, this is not an imaginary place: we believe this place exists, it is Avatel. It is an environment that is built on shared conviction, respect, and trust. Above all, it is the camaraderie among the people involved that creates a workplace paradise, one in which we all work hard at creating an energizing and motivating environment every day!

When you decide to make your company a great place to work, understand that you’re committing to an ongoing journey. Although Avatel has achieved phenomenal results over the last 10 years, we are always aware that we can still make improvements every day.

Congratulations Avatel Team, I look forward to celebrating with you at the awards luncheon!

Jamie Wood, Avatel EVP
